DIY Painting Instructions

DIY PAINT IS handcrafted in the USA using the highest quality NO VOC pigments in the industry.  DIY Paint ™ is velvety soft, lusciously creamy, and creates luxurious color dimension you have to see to believe.  DIY Paint ™ is eco-friendly and ALL NATURAL clay and chalk based paint.

We offer 44 colors of DIY paint clay/chalk paint. VOC free and water-soluble, no odors. Our paint has no latex, no acrylic. We only have 9 ingredients, (most others have 30+ ingredients) which are listed on the can.

These paints are highly blendable, reactivated with water.  The clay is also why there is such a long open window before it totally cures, which allows you to wet distress, blend and layer so beautifully. You can also use it like a dye to paint fabric!

1.  Clean & Dry object to be painted, I use TSP for best results which are readily available at most hardware stores.

2.  Apply one coat & allow to dry, time depends on climate, but anywhere from 20 minutes to overnight. I've found the longer I let the first coat dry, the easier it is to paint the next coat. If you're blending and layering colors, you don't need to do this step.  Just start painting!

3.  Apply second coat and let that dry, or if you're blending colors this is when I start that process.  Once you're happy with the results, finish by either using our finishing wax, liquid patina or big top (which would be for a highly used table top for example).

If paint is thicker than you'd like it for a particular project, just spray your paint brush with water before applying or mix a small amount of water into the paint in a separate container to desired consistency.
