Don't let the paint scare you!

Sometimes it's hard to be able to look past the ugliness to see it's true potential. This was one of those pieces! After the initial shock, I inspected this, looking in the drawers, the sides, bottom etc. This was a solid wood piece of furniture that just had the misfortune of an ugly paint job. I knew this was a piece for me!

This is a work in progress, so I'll post pictures as I am able to work on it. First thing I do normally is a good cleaning but I decided I wanted to strip the top because I wanted to try a new bleaching process on it. I started with a 15 minute stripper to get the layers of paint off. Once the majority was off, I used my orbital sander with a good heavy grit to take off the rest of the remaining paint.

I purchased a furniture bleaching kit a while back and was waiting for the right piece to try it on. Here is a pic of it mid way through.

What a difference already! Stay tuned for more pics and the finished project as I work on this!

Local to the area and have a piece you'd like refinished?  Just message me with a picture of what you would like worked on.
